Cookie notice · easternmarket.us
Ad cookies stay off until you press Allow, and one press of Decline turns them off again.
This is the cookie policy for the Eastern Market Provisions site, the catalogue people use to find fresh produce in Detroit and send a farm produce pickup request for 2934 Russell Street. It lists every cookie and browser storage key the site uses, explains the ad click identifiers that arrive with paid visits, and shows where the Consent Mode v2 switches sit. Definitions and retention clocks run in the margin beside the paragraph they belong to.
Dates on this notice
This notice takes effect on September 29, 2026. That is also the date of its last update. When we change the list of cookies, the date on this page changes with it and the new version applies from the day it is posted.
The notice is written by the shop, Easternmarket, trading at easternmarket.us as Eastern Market Provisions. It covers this website only. The counter at the market has no cookies; it has a scale and a board with the week's prices.
Three kinds of storage, and only one runs without asking
Strictly necessary. These keep the site doing what you asked it to do. One key remembers your cookie choice so the banner does not reappear on every page. Another keeps the token for a support chat you started, so the conversation is still there when you come back to ask what a half-bushel weighs. Neither is used for advertising, so neither waits for your consent.
Analytics. Counting visits and seeing which catalogue pages people read, for example whether the heirloom tomato section gets more reading in August than the apple section. Analytics storage stays denied until you press Allow.
Advertising. Google Ads, Microsoft Advertising and Meta Ads send paid visitors to this site. Their tags measure whether a click on an ad led to a pickup request. That is the whole use. We do not sell a list of visitors, and we do not build profiles of who buys eggs. Advertising storage stays denied until you press Allow.
Every cookie and storage key, with its clock
The table is the full list. The first two rows are ours. The rest are placed by the ad platforms' tags, and only after you allow storage. If a key is not in this table, this site did not put it there.
| Name | Set by | Category | What it is for | How long it lasts |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| site_consent_v2 | easternmarket.us (local storage) | Strictly necessary | Stores whether you pressed Allow or Decline, and when. Read on each page load to set the Consent Mode signals. | 12 months, or until you clear site data |
| Chat token | easternmarket.us (local storage) | Strictly necessary | Holds the token for a chat you started with the counter so you can return to the same conversation. | Until you clear site data; the transcript itself is kept 12 months on our side |
| _gcl_au | Google Ads tag | Advertising | Links a Google Ads click (gclid) to a later pickup request so the campaign can count it. | 90 days, only after Allow |
| _ga, _ga_* | Google tag | Analytics | Distinguishes one visitor from another to count visits and pages read. | Up to 2 years, only after Allow |
| _uetsid | Microsoft Advertising UET tag | Advertising | Carries the msclkid from a Bing or Microsoft ad click through the current session. | 1 day, only after Allow |
| _uetvid | Microsoft Advertising UET tag | Advertising | Recognizes a returning browser so a request made days after the click is still counted. | Up to 13 months, only after Allow |
| _fbp, _fbc | Meta pixel | Advertising | Records a visit from a Meta ad and the fbclid it carried, where a Meta campaign is running. | 90 days, only after Allow |
Durations for platform cookies are the platforms' published defaults. They can shorten them; we cannot lengthen them.
Paid clicks arrive with an identifier on the link
People find this site by searching things like "eastern market detroit produce" or "farm produce pickup detroit" and clicking an ad. Google Ads, Microsoft Advertising and Meta Ads send that traffic here today. When they do, the platform adds a click identifier to the end of the address in your browser bar.
Google Ads adds gclid. Microsoft Advertising adds msclkid. Meta Ads adds fbclid where a campaign runs there. The identifier is a random string. It says which ad was clicked, not who you are.
If you have allowed storage, the platform's tag keeps that identifier in one of the cookies listed above, and when you send a pickup request the tag reports one conversion back to the platform. If you have not allowed storage, the identifier still sits in the address bar but nothing on the page saves it, and the platform receives only the cookieless, consent-denied signal that Consent Mode sends.
Google Ireland Ltd and Google LLC receive the consent signals and the gclid. Microsoft Ireland Operations Ltd receives the msclkid. Meta Platforms Ireland Ltd receives the fbclid when a Meta campaign is live. Nobody else receives any of it.
Consent Mode v2: four switches, all set to denied first
Before any tag loads, the first line of script on every page sets four Google consent mode signals to denied: ad_storage, ad_user_data, ad_personalization and analytics_storage. They stay denied through every page you read and through the pickup form, until you choose otherwise.
Press Allow and all four move to granted. Press Decline, now or later from the footer, and all four go back to denied at once. The same choice governs the Microsoft UET tag and the Meta pixel; neither writes a cookie while the signals are denied.
If your browser sends the Global Privacy Control signal (the Sec-GPC header), we treat it as a Decline and do not show you the banner asking again. The four signals stay denied for as long as the header is present.
Where you give consent, and where you take it back
The banner sits in the bottom-left corner on a desktop and along the bottom edge on a phone. It does not cover the page and it does not stop you reading. It has two buttons of equal size, Decline and Allow. Closing the tab without pressing either counts as no consent.
To change your mind, use the Cookie settings button in the legal row at the bottom of every page. It reopens the banner. Pick the other button and the change applies on the spot. You can also clear site data for easternmarket.us in your browser, which removes site_consent_v2 and brings the banner back on your next visit.
What still works if you decline
Everything you came for. You can read the tomato, apple, greens, bread, honey and egg sections, send a pickup request, start a chat and call (313) 833-9300. The request reaches the counter the same way and gets the same call back.
What stops: no analytics cookie, no ad cookie, no conversion report tied to your browser. The ad platforms see that a click happened, because that is recorded on their side when you click, and they do not see what you did afterwards. Ads may still appear to you elsewhere, since declining here does not change your settings with Google, Microsoft or Meta.
The platforms' own documents
Each platform decides for itself what it does with data it receives, and says so in its own policy. Read them there, not in a summary from a produce shop.

Asking about one specific cookie
Name the cookie or key and the page you saw it on, and write to [email protected]. Post goes to Easternmarket, 2934 RUSSELL STREET, DETROIT, MI 48207, United States. Phone questions go to (313) 833-9300, though a cookie question is easier in writing because we will want to check the page first.
If you want to ask about produce instead, which is most people, the produce page and the pantry and bakery page have the week's range and a request link on every item.
