This is the pickup request for fresh produce in Detroit's Eastern Market district. Write the item and the amount your kitchen uses. A person at the counter reads it, phones or emails you, and sets the order aside at 2934 Russell Street with your name on it. Nothing is charged here. You pay at the counter once the weight is confirmed.

How to write a request we can fill in one call
Most requests are fine as they arrive. The ones that need three phone calls are missing an amount. "Some apples" is a question. "4 lb Honeycrisp, 2 lb Spy for a pie" is an order.
Give a unit, not a mood
Tomatoes and roots go by the pound. Greens go by the bunch. Bread is a loaf of about 900 g. Honey is a 1 lb jar and preserves an 8 oz jar. Eggs come by the dozen or the half-dozen. If you are unsure how much a family of three gets through in a week, say so and we will suggest a number. Two pounds of carrots is more than it sounds.
Canning weeks need two days
A half-bushel of heirloom tomatoes is about 25 lb and a half-bushel of apples about 21 lb. We pull those from the farm delivery, so we need the request two days before you want to collect. Ask on a Sunday for a Tuesday truck. Ask on a Wednesday for Friday. Details on each variety sit on the produce page.
Name the day, or let us pick it
Sourdough is baked the night before, so the pickup is that same day or you freeze it. Greens are cut the day before they reach us. If your notes say "Thursday after five", we check it against the deliveries and tell you if Friday would be better. We hold an order until the end of the agreed day and not after. Then it goes back on the counter.
Mixed orders are normal
Pick "Mixed order" and list everything in the notes: a loaf, six eggs, a jar of raw Michigan honey and a bunch of chard is a perfectly good order. So is one loaf on its own. Where each item comes from is on the sourcing page.

Is the price on the site what I pay?
The price on the board is the week's price per unit. We confirm the weight at the counter, then you pay. A request is not a quote and nobody charges your card from this form.
Can you deliver or ship it to me?
No. We don't ship eggs, produce or bread. They go from the farm cooler to ours to your bag. If you need doorstep delivery across the state, we are the wrong shop.
What if I can't make it on the day?
Call before the day ends and we move it if the stock allows. Bread and greens rarely survive a second day in good shape, so for those we usually cancel and start again rather than hand you a tired bag.
What if something is spoiled when I collect?
Tell us at the counter and we replace it. The exact rule is in the freshness guarantee.
